Best Time to Visit in the Summer

Daily and weekly subtle changes alter the colours and textures of the garden. We are often asked when is the best time to visit the garden. This is of course subjective, but we can offer some guidance that may help as you plan your visit.
If you want to visit while The Gardens are fairly quiet, then 9 am - 11 am might be for you. Pick up a coffee or tea from the Coffee Shop and meander through The Gardens at your own pace. Our recommendation during the Summer months is to arrive after 3pm, enjoy the warm afternoon with sun warming your face and providing a lovely light for photos and avoid the higher traffic period between 11am and 3pm.

Spectacular Summer Evenings have arrived! Beginning June 15th to September 5th  we extend our Admission Gate hours to 10pm in the evening allowing visitors to remain on the grounds until 11pm. Our Night Illuminations transform The Gardens into a magical wonderland and visitors are treated to an enchanting and tranquil display.  Night Illumination is not-to-be-missed!
July 2nd marks the beginning of our open air performances that take place on the Concert Lawn stage. This is also the start of our Firework Saturdays that run for 10 consecutive weeks. The whole family will enjoy our Spectacular Summer Evenings - included with your admission ticket.  Come sit on a bench, or bring a blanket and sit on the lawn. With a great line up of performances this summer, we are sure you’ll want to visit more than once!

Remember, once in the garden you can stay one hour past the gate closing time.
