Flower Report for August 28, 2014

As we move into September we often think that the summer floral display is finished for the season, but this is not the case. In actual fact, the garden beds are at their fullest and where they may have passed their prime we simply replant with colourful Chrysanthemums to fill the gaps and extend the season. Some plants actually perform at their best at this time of year and a fine example of this are the magnificent dahlias. Dahlias come in all shapes and sizes with some blooms measuring more than 12” in diameter! The container plantings and hanging baskets are also at their best at this time of year and are literally bursting with colour!
