The Butchart Chronicles : October 2, 2014

Flower Report for October 2, 2014

The garden is in fine form as we move into October as thousands of colourful chrysanthemums have added a fresh new glow to the display borders. The first of the Japanese maples are beginning show colour, giving us a taste of what is to come in the next month. Around the gardens you will find hanging baskets and container plantings from the summer which continue to provide an abundance of colour and foliage! The highlight for this week is the absolutely magnificent Dahlia border which is providing us with probably the best display that we have ever had. The Dahlias are loaded with blooms coming in an amazing array of colours, shapes and sizes with some of the blooms measuring more than 12” in diameter!
