Garden Themed Gifts - Summer 2014

Willow Tree Figures

As summer visitors begin knocking on your door, where better to take them than The Butchart Gardens?  Beyond the eye-popping floral displays and delicious foods don't forget the Seed and Gift Store.

The Seed and Gift Store is now offering Susan Lordi's one of a kind, ever-popular Willow Tree figurines.  Each Willow Tree® sculpture is hand carved by Susan. Using family and friends as models, Susan tries to capture a moment, or express a feeling. Pieces are cast from her original carvings, then individually painted by hand. Softly washed colors, carved and metal accents, and representative icons of nature mark Susan's work.

In Susan's words:  "I try to keep the interpretation of Willow Tree open. I hope this makes it more personal and allows the viewer to decide its meaning."

Sculptures sell fast so we cannot guarantee any particular sculpture will be in stock. If you don't see what you are looking for ask one of our staff members who can check if we have what you looking for.

The Gallery adjoined to the Visitors Centre features locally-made artisan products for the home and garden.  Everything is a hand-crafted work of art.

Glass snails

We continue to carry many favourites - Jack Willoughby, Mark Lauckner and Jenny Mathews to name but a few. These artists' works continue to evolve with many new and original pieces in stock.

New artists add different dimensions and we are proud to offer several including glass artist Roger Andersen, recycled metal jewelry artist Mimi Roy and fused glass artist Bonnie Brugger.  The Gallery staff can tell you about each artist's unique story. For example, Mimi tells us that she is 'intrigued' by the history, secrets and mystery of vintage silverware and by upcycling metal.  In her words she is:  "Doing what I can to keep the beauty of jewelry in an environomentally friendly way."

Bonnie studied to be a graphic artist and over the years worked in several different mediums. A number of years ago, on a whim, she took courses on stained glass and fused glass on a whim, and fusing became her passion.  She says her intent is to create fused glass art that makes you feel good.  It certainly makes us feel that way!
