Training for the Victoria Flower Count now possible

January 31, 2011

Victoria, BC – While the Victoria Flower Count doesn’t begin until March 1st, you can start training by counting spring flowers at the Spring Prelude indoor garden at The Butchart Gardens. Hyacinths, narcissus and witch hazel are part of a wide range of bulbs and plants now flowering in the annual indoor garden.

The fragrant scents of spring flowers waft through the 6,000 sq. ft. (550 sq. m.) conservatory. Koi swim lazily in a large pool crossed by a wheel chair accessible bridge. Adding to the ambience is a number of small waterfalls and fountains.

Walk the paths outdoors to catch glimpses of snow drops and witch hazel, then step in to the lovely spring setting. If you weren’t dreaming of spring already, this display will surely help put you in the mood.

The Gardens is open daily at 9am and closes at 3:30pm through February 28th. High Tea is available in the Dining Room Restaurant between noon and 3pm daily. A Spring Prelude package of adult admission and High Tea is currently offered at $39.92, plus tax ($21.65, plus tax for 12-Month pass holders.)
