Food & Beverage
The serving of food and beverage at The Butchart Gardens began soon after Jennie Butchart started having people drop by to view her gardening handiwork. From those early days of cups of tea served on the lawn, The Gardens has expanded its offerings to include simple, tasty fare to exquisitely prepared fine lunches and dinners.
Our commitment to quality means that whenever possible, food items are made on site by our Executive Chef Travis Hansen and his culinary team. Some examples include the chocolate Bailey's Irish Cream truffles and our signature candied ginger scone on our Afternoon Tea, house-made BBQ meatballs served from our Coffee Shop cart, our pastries, sausage rolls, and all of our soups and sauces.
Our Dining Room Restaurant and Blue Poppy Restaurant participate in B.C.'s "Bring Your Own Wine” program now available at participating restaurants.
- The wine must be unopened and commercially produced. No UVin or home made products are permitted.
- You must hand the bottle to a staff person upon entering the restaurant.
- The wine will be served in the same manner as wine selected from the menu. The corkage fee for this service is $20.00 for full table service (Dining Room) or $15.00 for bar or casual service (Blue Poppy Restaurant).
- You may take away unfinished bottles of wine which we will cork. Those who are driving must store the wine behind the rear seat, in the trunk, or in an exterior compartment – it must be out of reach of people in the car.
Our restaurants, coffee shop and seasonal outlets are within The Gardens so admission to The Gardens is necessary.
