The Gardens receives special recognition from Princess Cruises' passengers

September 21, 2007

Victoria, BC - A tour operated by Gray Line West of The Butchart Gardens has been named Princess Cruises' Shore Excursion of the Season. This annual C.R.U.I.S.E. award is based on passenger feedback and is awarded to select tour operators in the Alaskan and Canadian ports from which Princess Cruises operates.

"To be recognized by Princess Cruises' visitors is an exciting honor for us as it means our determination to exceed visitor expectations continues to happen," said Dave Cowen, general manager for The Gardens.

The Butchart Gardens continues to welcome cruise ship passengers through to the end of October. Over 160 ships from a variety of cruise lines entered the Port of Victoria in 2007, with The Gardens seeing passenger visitations from most of them.

The Butchart Gardens, designated a National Historic Site in Canada, was created in 1904 by Jennie Butchart out of her husband's worked-out limestone quarry site.  The Gardens welcomes close to one million guests from around the world each year.
