Bara Fallows & Richard MacKenzie
Bara and Richard are full-time Vancouver Island artists with 30
years experience working in a wide variety of mediums. Richard is
a wood carver and stone sculptor and was a full-time production
potter in the 60's and 70's in Winnipeg. Bara is a painter, sculptor
and collage artist and teacher. Both have worked on public space
projects and have facilitated many different education programs on
Vancouver Island and other parts of Canada.Together, working in
concrete, they have discovered their own unique mixes plus etching
and glazing techniques.
Bara and Richard's leaves are made with their own specially developed
concrete mix, reinforced with polyfibres and nylon mesh. The
leaves are made individually by hand and coloured with metallic
salts in acid base which react with the concrete to give it a patina.
