How we are protecting our Visitors:

  • Visitors must answer screening questions prior to being admitted, and are spoken to prior to their admission to explain required safety procedures.
  • Controlled entry at the Admission Gate, Wharf and Turnstile entrances allows staff to monitor attendance level.
  • All visitors and staff are required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering at all times while visiting.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at several locations.
  • Plexiglass has been installed to provide a safety barrier, where necessary.
  • Directional signs have been installed and paths widened throughout the gardens where necessary, and staff members are positioned at key locations to monitor physical distancing and promote one-way traffic where possible.
  • Some benches, tables and chairs have been removed to reduce gathering and the chances of hard surface exposure.
  • To facilitate physical distancing on pathways, the use of camera tripods is currently not permitted.
  • Some restrooms are closed, enabling more frequent cleaning of those remaining open.
  • Touch points are sanitized frequently using an appropriate virucide.
  • Complimentary umbrellas are not available for use.
  • Wheelchairs & Strollers are loaned without a deposit transaction and are disinfected between use.
  • The Dining Room Restaurant: temporarily closed.
  • Coffee Shop: Limited outdoor seating, following all guidelines for physical distancing, take-away service. Flow of traffic is maintained through use of arrows, signs are printed on floors and cones to keep 2m/6ft distance between people, doors are propped open, hand sanitizer is located at entry and exit, separate entry and exit are clearly marked.
  • Seed & Gift Store: Reduced hours, following protocols to allow for physical distancing, capacity monitoring and sanitary precautions. Face coverings are mandatory; no food or beverages permitted inside.

How we are protecting our Staff:

  • No visitors, staff or contractors experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 are allowed on property.
  • Staff experiencing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 are directed to use the BC Self-Assessment Tool and follow its instructions.
  • Company sick policy has been reinforced with staff, with the understanding that they are to stay home if sick; if they become ill at work they are sent home immediately.
  • Human Resources is closely monitoring and tracking staff illness.
  • Daily health checks are conducted with every staff member upon entering the property.
  • Following all existing and new guidance provided by WorkSafe BC.
  • Staff working in public areas, and staff areas where physical distancing is difficult (corridor, meeting room, elevator, washroom, break room), are required to wear non-medical masks or face covering.
  • Mandatory COVID-19-specific training for all staff.
  • All non-essential work travel postponed.
  • Work spaces have been modified to enable staff to maintain distance of 2m/6 ft.
  • Smaller company communal break areas have been closed to reduce gathering, main break areas are open with staff staggering break times to allow for adequate physical distancing. Masks are required in these areas when not seated, consuming food and beverages.
  • Limit of one person per company vehicle.
  • High touch surface areas are regularly wiped down with a recommended virucide.
  • Easy-access to hand washing and hand sanitizers.
  • Relevant signage and resources are posted throughout staff areas.
  • Task-specific PPE is available, including gloves, masks, respirators and face shields in appropriate locations.

How our operations have adjusted:

  • Operating on reduced hours, capacity and facilities and amenities. The list of operational changes can be found here: COVID-19 Update.
  • Visitors are counted and spaced out upon entry. Staff are positioned at key locations to monitor physical distancing. Large groups are required to split up, with a maximum of 10 persons walking together.
  • Doors remain open where possible.
  • Credit and debit accepted; cash is not accepted.
